For those of us who were unfortunate enough to have worked with, or around, MW we know the truth about his lack of ethics, lack of honesty, and his willingness to throw anyone under the bus if it benefits him(sometimes just for fun!!). I watched him for several years do just that as he fought, cheated, and maneuvered his way to an EVP slot with SYSCO. He was always competing with some guy in New Orleans who did eventually become a SYSCO President at one of the fold outs. That is when Mike started pouting and throwing his toys and threatening to leave if SYSCO did not give him a company. Problem was, and is, that Charles Cotros does not like Mike and would not put up with Mike’s crap in Cincy like he did in Albany (where Jeff Boies was there to protect little ‘ol Mikey). With no friends left in high places, Mike left in search of other opportunities outside of SYSCO. Because the writing was on the wall!! The careers and lives that Mike destroyed to further himself and his pocket book can never be recovered, all for naught, as he did not fit the SYSCO mold! |

Whoever you are, don't you have more to do than trash another company president? Do you now work for SYSCO or PFG or some other small independent distributor? You are probably stuck at a third tier distributor because you were not able to work for Mike because he demands performance! It is very obvious you are bitter either you were terminated or passed over for a promotion because of your lack of talent. You are the same guy who thought promoting someone from ops to purchasing was a mistake. You obviously are bitter and need some professional help! Better yet leave the industry and find another vehicle to vent your frustrations!

Hey FSGURU
I know Mike better than most people in the ndustry, except for Jeff Boies. I never worked for Mike but have worked in the sam OPCP's as him and watched how he functioned.
He couldnt's make it as a TM in Houston, Screwed up his DSM job in Kansas, and couldn't stay in Albany once Jeff left.
Mike has laways needed protection from a "mentor" or he could not survive....

OK BATB,
What do you hope to gain in trashing this man? What's in it for you? I do not see others from his company posting the trash like you are. If you examine yourself you may find you won't like what you find. I know Mike and have worked with him directly as well. He is not perfect but he is fair and determined to make his company successful.

I don't know Mike W., but I agree with FSguru that there is absolutely no gain in trashing the man.
If you don't like him, say so and move on. I have had plenty of DSM's, RSM's, etc. that I didn't like, but I never trashed them. I always tried to work with them knowing that they were going to be around for awhile.
What it all really comes down to is your pocket books anyway. Either you have "IT" and can make a good living or you don't. All the negativity and bitching solves nothing, clouds your head, and costs you money.

Hello BATB. I read your rant about Mike Wiedower and I can't help but think you must be talking about a different Mike Wiedower than I know. Mike is a hard-working, sharp, and (most-importantly) ethical business man who genuinely cares about his people. He goes to the warehouse every morning to greet his drivers and warehouse employees...how often does Joe Calabrese or any other President leave their offices? He is dedicated to the cause and does what needs to be done to succeed and better his company. He is fair...ever the diplomat he is. He gives warnings when one's performance is suffering, and after seeing no results or effort, he gladly fires them. If you were in upper-management you would not tolerate sub-par performance from your staff either. Though, based on your grudge you have against him, I imagine your performance was sub-par and he wouldn't allow it. He is successful because he knows what he is doing, and he knows how to motivate to get results. So I have a few questions for you:
1. Did you work for him? If so, for how long?
2. Were you good at your job? Would he agree with your response to this question?
3. Have you seen his numbers in Kansas City and Albany? Are you aware he was promoted due to great sales results each time he relocated?
4. How old and immature are you to be whining about a man that you clearly have no contact with since he has clearly earned a title superior to yours?
5. Who would be proud to say they fit the "SYSCO mold"? I'd be insulted. What an ass-backwards company that has the lowest morale of any company I've ever done business with.
He's lucky to have survived 22 years working for people who didn't appreciate him and his hard work. He was in the office by 6 am giving his all to a company that would stab him in the back and cut off their nose to spite their face. The politics and BS in that company disgust me...he deserves a Congratulations for moving forward in his career, and finally getting the appreciation and respect he deserves! Cheers, Mike!

unfortunately it wont end the trash talk. Mike is an arrogant pompous ass who does throw individuals under the bus. I have had direct dealings with him recently and find him to be outright rude to those under him. The problem is it seems to carry over to the customers as they seemingly drop like flies when he is in charge. Dont listen to his leaner and meaner company talk...its an excuse to keep his high payroll on board while he cuts the little man.

I was there at Sysco Albany, when Wiedower was there, and so was Jeff Boise. MUT and Jeff. These 2 runied many life's. They did nothing for no one, but for personal gain. The 2 of them spent more time on the golf course than anywhere else. These 2 have more BS, than a christmas turkey. The sad thing about them both is that will continue to BS their way into decent jobs and ruin more life's. But in the end, doesn't everyone pay. If that is the case I hope that these 2 pay dearly for the hardship's that they caused so many families. |

Here we go again! A full year later! More losers showing their bitter self loathing personalities! Mike has done well in his career, because he delivers! Your BS only shows your true self worth. Professionals find ways to make a positive impact! If you don't have anything positive to add why not keep your mouth shut!
I have known Mike for years and yes he is a strong leader. Maybe to strong for your candy ass whining who has nothing else to do but trash those who are successful.
You probably voted for Obama and are sitting on your ass waiting for a hand out instead of making money the old fashion way. Go earn it you loser!

FSGuru......obviously there are many people out there who have had their careers ended prematurely via Mike W.
Mike only worries about Mike, you may think him a hard worker, and sometimes he is, but he does it for one reason, and one reason only, personal satisfaction ($$$).
I watched him, as a peer, at SYSCO, and I was never in danger from his antics but I did watch him end some careers so that he could move sales to his favorites and fatten his bonus checks.
Mike also seemed to need his bonus money before it was due as he could not seem to live on his ever growing paycheck.
Oh, and just to give you an idea of his sensitive side. When he did receive a particularly nice bonus (several of us were on a unique bonus plan, different from the "locals") he had the audacity to drive his new boat to the warehouse and park it in the middle of the parking lot for all to see.........including the hard working people who did NOT receive the same bonus structure but were working just as hard, if not harder, as some of them feared for their jobs.......including the now infamous Bill F. (sorry Jodie).
When Gail A. tried to explain to him how insensitive it was to park the new toy at the warehouse, Mike was offended that she would even say anything.
Jeff B. had to make Mike remove the boat from the premises!

I had the unfortunate experience of being at Sysco Cincinnati during the Boies and Wiedower regime. I can attest to the Wiedower boat being parked on the company lot. Also, while most everyone else drove a normal car, both Boies and Wiedower drove their high priced sports cars to the "executive" parking lot. Additionally, Boies occasionally drove his Harley to work. Obviously none of this sat well with the "ordinary" employees.
The mention of Boies and Wiedower spending a lot of time on the golf course was 100% true.
Of course, the history of Boies was that he was run out of Houston because of the Anti-Trust problem that he got the Houston Services house in to. He was shipped out to other houses like Louisville and Albany and Cincinnati just to get him out from under the "Ivory Tower".
Any successes in Cincinnati were because of dedicated employees that had to work for their paychecks and certainly not because of Jeff Boies or Mike Wiedower.
Oh, and let's not forget Jeff Jr. who came along and was given a candy job as an E&S specialist and who generally couldn't be found with a search warrant.
Those were great years.

Can you Mikey fans tell me where he's been a winner? 3 jobs in 3 years?
Oh, and by the way...dottie, I really believe you are Mike W himself!
Nice job PFG...took you to long to undo your wrong. At least a dozen good people left because of the arrogance of MW.

OMG Mike W is gone. No longer will the people at PFG have to listen to "Hi Buddy" because he was to ignorant to even try to remember your name.To his friends you have spent the last 19 months sucking up to him,accepting promotions from him and screwing your friends behind their backs I wish you all a fond farewell, you know its coming.I will keep this posting short i have way to much to say.But to Brad F.
